Set up cURL

First, create an API key.

Start with a sandbox key (sk_test_) to test the request with synthetic results at no cost. Create the key in your dashboard, then paste it into your local setup.

Open API keys

Replace my-collection with a collection your key can access, and your search query with your question. About collections

  1. Put your API key in your environment:

    Terminal
    export REDPINE_API_KEY=sk_test_YOUR_SANDBOX_KEY
  2. Make your first request:

    Terminal
    curl -X POST "https://api.redpine.ai/api/v1/search/query" \
      -H "Authorization: Bearer $REDPINE_API_KEY" \
      -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
      -d '{"collection": "my-collection", "query": "your search query"}'

Check it works

Your request should return a results array. With a sandbox key, result IDs start with sandbox- and their metadata includes synthetic: true.

That confirms the request is working. Sandbox results are test data; use a live key when you are ready to search real content.
